When the sun rises in the morning,
And my horse and I are one,
I think about you in my free moments
While the work is being done.

While the cattle are being fed,
And the young stock tended to,
And the sun rises in the morning,
My thoughts turn back to you.

I hope you’re having a good day,
And I hope also a little fun,
While I miss you in the mornings,
As I ride beneath the rising sun.

A good day should have a few smiles,
As we continue with our chores,
It shouldn’t all be harshness,
falls, bruises, and sores.

Though those things will come to haunt us,
Their days will surely come,
As we carry out our busy days
And finish what we’ve begun.

But when the sun rises in the morning,
And my horse and I are one,
I smile as I think of you
While the work is being done.
